Government quarter: Are we about to demolish the wrong building?

Svein Lund has joined in the ongoing debate about the plans for the redevelopment of the Government quarter in Oslo. In his article published in the national newspaper Aftenposten, he questions the current plan to demolish the so called Y-building, the important modernist architecture by Erling Viksj√ł, that was damaged by the bomb blast in 2011.
Examining an alternative strategy: to reconfigure the new quarter by removing the soon to be vacant Deichman City Library and preserving the Y-building. This solution creates new opportunities to improve the relationship with the surroundings and to provide a broader scope for all the ministry buildings by reinstating the Hammerberg Hill as an open green park.
