Cabin Harbo

Location: Ulset, Fagernes
Status: Completed 1999

The body of the building is an elongated, narrow space that follows the shape of the valley. The living spaces are directed towards the view with storage space in the back towards the terrain. The two parts are connected through a low entrance.
When designing this mountain cabin, the main focus was placed on:
- working the construction into the terrain and keeping as much as possible of the existing vegetation.
-    challenging and interpreting the traditional local architecture in a new manner and at the same time keeping elements included in the local architectural type.
-    using natural materials and colours that are in harmony with the surroundings. The cabin consists of earthbound brick walls made up of natural stone and a lighter wood panel construction above.
