Cabin Finland
Pargas. Finland
Mountains, smooth coastal rock, heather, reeds, and birch trees shaped by weather and wind define the site, set far out in the archipelago of southern Finland. It is a fragile landscape that calls for site sensitive solutions, tha architecture is carefully placed in the terrain with minimal intervention beyond simple pillar foundations.
The cabin project is conceived with this premise at its core. Each function is housed in its own small structure, log built in a factory and later adapted on the island.
The new buildings sit set back from the shoreline, gathered around a small knoll. A sheltered inner courtyard emerges within the gently undulating landscape, protected from the wind. All cabins are connected by covered walkways and footbridges, and an external storage shed contains water containers and storage space serving each unit.
The cabin has no mains water or electricity. Solar panels mounted on the roof provide power, and a nearby well supplies water.
